存在状态State of Existence━“华丽”与“朴素”具有二元性，这也是自然的表征和内在的现象，但在《“粹”的构造》里，九鬼周造却有着耳目一新的解释。他把“华丽”翻译成叶片伸展出去，称之“叶出”；“朴素”则是品尝土地的味道，谓之“地味”。前者是走出自我的存在状态，后者则是沉入自我的存在状态。展厅设计不同的自我状态塑造了不同的空间意识，而功能的“存在”却是客观的事实。
